We measure what intact nature is worth and we pay it out. A dividend, earned by the people whose daily choices keep an ecosystem alive.
TODO 10xmedia: Data Ticker preview, add button which links to the research hub. (aka the data behind the work) Show something interesting such as: 3,558 people in the program, over 70 percent of the adults on the island, two payments, totaling over 8.2 million Dobras.
(Mónica: „The information for the data ticker is on the Power BI. We don’t have more.”)

The Natural Dividend began on Príncipe Island, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where nature and daily life are not separate things. The same forest that holds the island’s biodiversity is the one people live beside, work in and depend on.
Starting in one place let us build the programme properly before scaling it. Every measurement, every payment and every result is documented and open to anyone who wants to look.
Once the Natural Dividend meets its goals on Príncipe, the aim is to expand it to other places where protecting nature and making a living have to work together.
Faya Foundation was founded and is funded by entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth.
We are a team of ecologists, economists, data scientists and community workers, most of them on Príncipe Island. We believe that protecting nature and earning a living should not pull against each other, and we have built a programme so that they do not.

We are looking for people, communities and travellers who want to help, with sustainable tourism, with reforestation and with conservation. You can also help by sharing our work and following what we build.
Our Vision.
A world where protecting nature is an investment, not a cost.
